Hey Product Hunt — Danny from the GW Security team here. For years, one question has dominated our support inbox: "Which security camera setup is actually right for my home?" We'd answer it roughly the same way every time, working through a short decision tree. After typing the same thing 50 times a week, we built the tree as a tool. Help Me Choose is six steps. Do you already own an NVR? — Ours are all ONVIF-compliant, so if you do, you skip straight to the cameras 4. Image quality — Good (5MP), Better (8MP 4K), or Best (12MP 4K Ultra) 5. Features that matter to you — built-in mic, two-way audio, smart alerts, color night vision, spotlight (skippable — you'll see all matches either way) 6. NVR and storage size — only if you need one A few things we changed during the build: - Quality as Good / Better / Best, not megapixels. Our first version asked "Do you want 5MP, 8MP, or 12MP?" — most first-time buyers don't translate that into a meaningful tradeoff. Plain-English tiers more than doubled completion. - Features step is optional. We added a "skip to see all options" because forcing people to pre-commit to features filtered out anyone who didn't know yet what they wanted. - ONVIF compliance up front. Because our cameras work with most third-party NVRs, we don't gatekeep people who already own one — they can use just our cameras. That decision came directly from support tickets where customers thought they had to replace their whole system.
