I found existing meditation apps too overwhelming, so I built a minimalist "one-button" tool for myself. The concept is simple: it’s an "emergency calm button." You don't browse a library. You just push the button and let the session guide you through the fog, one screen at a time. It’s designed to be used when you are too distressed to function, or just as a daily "baseline check" to keep the anxiety at bay.

For the last four years, I’ve been navigating the deteriorating mental health of a loved one. When you are living in that kind of "high alert" state, just waiting for the house to collapse, your brain changes. I found myself in a cycle of worry and exhaustion where I couldn’t even think clearly. I realized that when you are crawling through shadows dark enough, even choosing the right meditation practice is a burden. Most apps offer dozens of categories, timers, and teachers. When my head was completely stuck, having to make that one choice was so overwhelming that I’d just close the app and do nothing. Or not even start one. So, I decided to build a "First Aid kit" for my own mind.

I want to thank everyone who has had a chance to check out the app! Now that Guiding Beacon is live on both iOS and Android, I will start working on an update that adds a few different color themes to the app. Relaxation is subjective, so offering color theme options alongside the existing Dark Mode will make the experience more personal while still staying true to the core minimalist design. I’d love to hear what you think about adding color themes!
