GrepCoder is a coding interview platform where candidates work on real projects with an AI coding assistant. An AI interviewer analyzes their code and asks follow-up questions to explore their reasoning. Companies see how candidates build real features, and candidates don't have to optimize for resume buzzwords. Instead of reading hundreds of resumes to find who to interview, send every applicant a GrepCoder interview first. Let them prove they can build.

Hi, I'm Khang, co-founder of GrepCoder.
As Software Engineers, my co-founder and I lived through the LeetCode cycle: practice for months, pass the interview, then never use any of it on the job. With AI writing a majority of the code now, LeetCode is more irrelevant than ever, but everyone still interviews this way.
So we built GrepCoder. Candidates work on real projects with an AI assistant. An AI interviewer asks follow-up questions to see if they actually understand what they're building, or are they just copying AI output.
We're also experimenting with a feature that we call Progressive Assessments. In the second round, candidates continue working on the same code from the previous round, adding new features. The codebase and complexity grows organically, just like real work. We see if they can write clean, maintainable code over time.
Our goal: replace resume screening entirely. Instead of filtering by school names and buzzwords, let every candidate prove they can build.
We're piloting with a YC company now. Would love your feedback: Would you want to interview this way as a candidate? Would you use this as a company?
