Today, Indians pay ₹500+ in commissions with high minimum deposits to trade U.S. stocks through traditional brokerages. GreenTiger enables every Indian with a smartphone to invest with zero commission trades + fractional shares.
Thanks for the hunt @katmanalac
Hi everyone! My name is Prateek and I'm the co-founder of GreenTiger. I wanted my mom (who lives in India) to invest in US equities, and as I went about researching what's the best place to open an account for her, it dawned on me that there was no clear or affordable option for us! Most brokerages were outdated, needed you to physically submit paperwork, submit high deposits, and/or charged high commissions. This is what drove me to build a simpler, affordable, and less scary alternative that could make it easier for people like you and me to invest in companies we loved without being inundated by information. Our goal is to make investing less scary and more rewarding, and we're just getting started on that journey.

Guys, Very nice UX .. similar to Robinhood but minimal can look 'same' I guess.
That said, how is it better than Stockal or Vested or Zambala? Are you an advisor or broker?
@arian_douglas Hey Arian, We're in the process of registering as a broker. We don't want to limit you to 100 stocks or ETFs but trade most equities that you are interested in. Also, we're mobile first :)
@aloukissas Hey Alex, glad you asked! The Reserve Bank of India, under the Liberal Remittance Scheme (LRS), allows Indian nationals to remit up to $250,000 abroad every year and it is explicitly mandated that trading foreign securities is legal. On the brokerage side, we've partnered with an SEC registered brokerage and they use Apex as their clearing house :)
This is insane. Been waiting for this so long. Hunted. Any chance you could kick me up the list?
Could you put up some info in FAQ about USD--INR conversion charges, remitting INR back to my Indian bank and #of days to credit. Also, any plans of simplifying the resulting tax paperwork that will result from this? I looked up for this kinda brokers sometime back...and not finding any decent solution gave up on it.
@kazisuhail Hey Suhail, if you message me your email ID I'll keep a lookout for it ;) Absolutely will do. Yes, we're definitely working on providing the necessary paperwork (in-app) to simplify tax returns especially since the US and India have a Double Taxation Treaty.

It's impressive that you guys figured out the regulatory hurdles. My mom's a financial advisor and she's ecstatic about this! Can confirm its the new talk around the valley ;)
