Grammarly charges $144/year. GrammarPeace does the same thing for $0. Open-source Chrome extension that checks grammar, rewrites tone, and translates 15+ languages, powered by AI models that are smarter than whatever Grammarly uses. Completely free with OpenRouter. Or bring your own key for Claude, GPT, Groq, Cerebras, even local Ollama. No servers. No accounts. No data collection. Your text goes straight from your browser to the AI. We don't even have a backend to spy on you if we wanted to.

Hey PH! I built GrammarPeace because paying $144/year for Grammarly in 2026 feels like paying for a calculator app.
AI models now check grammar better than Grammarly ever did. So why are we still paying?
Here's what I did: built a Chrome extension that talks directly to AI providers from your browser. No middleman. No servers. No subscription.
The best part — OpenRouter gives you free AI access. So the total cost is literally $0. No credit card, no trial, no "free for 7 days" nonsense. Just free.
If you're a power user who wants specific models, you can plug in Claude, GPT, Groq, Cerebras, or even run Ollama locally. Custom base URL + model name = works with anything.
Everything is open source. Every line of code is on GitHub. I have zero servers, zero analytics, zero tracking. Your writing never leaves your browser except to hit the AI API directly.
I'd love to hear what you think. Roast it, break it, suggest features — all welcome.
And if you're still paying for Grammarly after trying this... I have questions.
