Tired of waiting for OpenAI to roll out revenue share? Add the GPT Builder Tools action to your GPT to to accept payments directly from your users in the OpenAI Store - choose donation, subscription or lifetime access.
Hey Product Hunters!
We're so excited to be launching GPT Builder Tools today on Product Hunt.
We built this product because:
- we believe in a fairer AI economy where the value generated is more equitably distributed (this means everyday folks have access to AI tools, and AI builders get paid for their work)
- it incentivises AI builders to create more & better GPTs (to fix bugs, add new features, integrate with paid APIs to deliver a more premium product)
Ultimately, this is a win for normal people who flocked to ChatGPT in their hundreds of millions, but struggle to get it to work to a high enough standard that can be relied upon, which is where premium apps are needed.
Few things
- we have confirmed directly with OpenAI; there is no policy against builders accepting money directly from users
- installation takes 2 minutes and does not require coding
- you don't need your own Stripe account, but you will need a PayPal account so we can pay you!
If you want to start earning money from your GPT today, use promo code PHLAUNCH to try our Pro plan for free.
We also offer analytics - daily chat count, the ability to track keyword search results to improve GPT Store SEO, and, if the user gives permission, chat summaries so you can see how users are interacting with the GPT.
Cheers,
Jeevika

Interesting idea! I agree that a market where builders are compensated properly will yield better products out there because they have more incentives. Right now, the payment requires jumping a few hoops.
I'm curious if you have thought about the elephant in the room which is what if OpenAI builds a payment system natively?
Congrats on launching this product though @jeevika_makani and team!
@tonyhanded yeah great question! We actively want to see OpenAI get involved in the payments / monetisation game. The thing about the GPT Store is that either it won't really happen and we all get $0, or it really kicks off, and it has the potential to get massive, and in which case, there will be space for native and third party payments / analytics solutions to support the ecosystem (and that's obviously the bet we're taking, as we see value in having a first moved advantage... we're already learning so much about end users and builders which is much harder to replicate than just product)
I have been using this since April of this year and Jeevika and team have been marvellous! The development under taken in this short space of time is quite remarkable! Last week I emailed asking about the possibility of adding a new feature, only for Jeevika to respond by telling me that feature will be rolled out next week. Not just responding to customer needs but anticipating. If that’s not great service, then I don’t know what is. Great job, lovely people!
@marc_thorne1 thank you so much!! And yes, looking forward to rolling out whitelisting very soon!

It's interesting but isn't this just a workaround for OpenAI's revenue plans? I wonder how it'll impact GPT quality in the long run, what’s your plan to make sure users get real value and not just hit with fees?
@contentcatalyst there needs to be both! we enable a user pays model which is inadequate on its own. Some GPTs are fun and popular, and the developer should be made from a revenue share agreement from OpenAI given that it drives more Plus sign ups for them. But some GPTs are more advanced / expensive to run, or serves a very niche market, and so enabling user contributions makes these types of GPTs viable to develop and run. we allow our builders to offer free trials so users can see the quality and value before they pay. ultimately, it's a marketplace with lots of competition, and we welcome the fact that if users don't see enough value, they will vote with their feet and wallets, and so poor quality GPTs can't expect to make money.

This is an avenue that I never considered.. was doing GTPs for fun but now I can monetise them, super interesting.
@carlos_leyva that's great to hear! t's early days for the GPT Store, but it's exactly what you said, by offering monetisation early, we hope to attract more developers to enter the space to help kickstart the ecosystem

looks interesting but there seems to be a problem with the video demo. it keeps freezing and going back to zero seconds.
