Hey Product Hunt! I'm petrala, the maker of Pebrel.
As a Windows developer, I've always felt a bit left out of the modern terminal experience. Once AI CLI tools like Claude Code and Codex became part of my workflow, I was constantly juggling multiple terminals, SSH clients, and external AI chats. It was fragmented and slow.
So I built Pebrel. It's an AI-native, GPU-accelerated terminal emulator built with Rust and GPUI. My goal was simple: bring local shells, remote hosts (SSH & SFTP), files, and AI agents into one unified, native workspace.
Here's what I'm most proud of, and what users have mentioned the most:
First, the looks. I spent a lot of time on the themes and color palettes to make sure it's easy on the eyes and genuinely pleasant to use. One user described it as "Warp, but cleaner and simpler."
Second, the reading experience. When AI CLI tools generate answers, Pebrel opens them in a native reader with full Markdown, formula rendering, and image previews—no WebView required. I also built native mathematical typesetting so you can read beautifully rendered LaTeX formulas right inside the workspace.
Beyond that, it's fully native (no Electron bloat), GPU-accelerated for smooth scrolling, and includes persistent sessions, saved workspace layouts, and SSH/SFTP with jump-host support.
Building this in Rust and GPUI was a challenging but rewarding journey. I wanted to make something fast, native, and respectful of your system resources.
Pebrel is 100% open source. I'd love for you to try it and tell me what you think. What features would make your AI dev workflow better? Let's chat in the comments.
