Alice Rodgers
Hey! would love to know your expansion plans (:
Ryan Xavier
@cn__katie Hello Katie! Thanks for the support. We launched in LA but the idea has already spread on its own to 20+ states. Thanks to syndication of an article about Galora in the LA Times, and word of mouth, there has been a good response outside of our core focus city. Active users are in San Diego, San Jose, San Fran, Austin, Hawaii, and Seattle. We are looking to raise now, in the hopes of marketing nationally, focusing first on mid-size cities with decent year-round weather and a good community-feel. Portland and Salt Lake, could be potential next steps. 🌆 Beyond the US, we feel there is universal appeal to connecting people to locally produced foods, and providing a fun way to meet like minded neighbors. 🗺️ Thanks for the interest, any ideas or leads will be appreciated!

@ryan_xavier Thank you for coming back to me, Ryan! Cool, I am happy to hear about Galora's expansion. As you mentioned before - you are looking for raise now. We can help you with it. We are just about to launch TeQatlas - all-in-one fundraising platform soon. https://www.producthunt.com/upco...

@cn__katie Super, I love that concept and would be happy to hear more about it!

Looks like a great product, I'm sure it has a bright future! Is it only available in the US at the moment? What area is it covering? And also, avocados don't really grow on trees, do they?
Sarah Wright
@rubenwolff Haha! My coworker lived adjacent to an empty lot with an avo tree that would dump buckets of avos into her yard. She would bring them to all her coworkers. We lived in Santa Barbara (near LA). Clearly a California problem :).
Ryan Xavier
@rubenwolff Thanks for the message. The app works globally, but our focus has been primarily in Los Angeles. There are also active users in San Jose, Seattle, Hawaii, Austin, San Francisco. 🥑🥑 Avocados grow on trees, EVERYWHERE in Socal! 🥑🥑. Thanks for the question and support!
Ryan Xavier
@rubenwolff @sarah_wright7 Haha, yes avocados are common here, as are loquats, oranges, lemons, guava, persimmon, fig, pomegrantes, and many others. 🍋. However, Galora is not just about extra fruit, it is also for selling and trading homegrown vegetables, or homemade foods like breads, jams, kombuchas, etc. Thank you for your support and questions! 🥖
Gregory Wehmeyer
Glad somebody finally did this. Gardens always have surplus and connecting them to neighbors will be like having a farmer's market every day, everywhere.
Ryan Xavier
@gregory_wehmeyer ABSOLUTELY! Thats the vision. We see the future of food as being a neighborhood driven marketplace. We have the land, the water, the sunshine, and the passionate people who love to grow and bake. Cutting out the spraying, packaging, and transportation can do alot to heal the planet and build stronger communities. Thank you for your support. All ideas and suggestions are welcome!

I like this product and love the design on your product page! Thank you for sharing!
Ryan Xavier
@imjosealvarado you are very welcome! I would love to hear if you would consider using the product, and what other ideas you might have! thanks for the support!

My backyard in LA produces a couple hundred pounds of fruit each year, and most of it spoiled. Millions of homes are just like mine around the country. Finding a way to sell or trade this amazing food in my community was the inspiration for Galora. Launched in July 2020, we have 10,600 members in Los Angeles, San Diego, San Jose, Seattle, Austin, and more. If you like real food FROM real people, this is the app that needs to grow.
