Fundopedia

Fundopedia is an exciting new product for anyone investing in the private markets. I worked on it with some friends in this space, and we're backed by some major LPs who are trying to create the best private fund data set out there and make it available entirely for free. It's a wiki-style, open-source model where any user can suggest edits and fund managers can easily claim and manage their profiles. We think this will result in much better data than the other stuff that's out there, for those familiar with things like Pitchbook it's super sparse and expensive. We also scraped tons of data from SEC filings, manager websites and other public sources on the web to make the information as extensive and complete as possible. The app empowers investors to find the most compelling opportunities and at the same time helps managers maintain a public brand and communicate key info to existing/prospective LPs. Again at no cost, we believe this information and functionality should be free. We've worked on some pretty differentiated features like: - Network analysis of managers who tend to invest together, you can see for example how Khosla Ventures often invests in the same companies as Founders Fund, Sequoia Capital, and General Catalyst. - Ability to view value-add content like manager podcasts and blogs alongside more traditional data - "Express interest" and data room functionality to connect LPs to GPs and enable seamless information sharing We've also invested a lot in the UI, trying to make it as modern and navigable as possible in service of our mission to increase transparency in the private markets space. And we're using the latest technologies to do things like AI-enabled queries that help you find exactly what you're looking for. I am always super curious about interesting collections of data, and Fundopedia seems to be on the way to building a really cool set of data! Their discovery page with sets of managers in different themes they invest in is super interesting! I will definitely keep this website bookmarked and check-in as the data gets better!
