Hey Product Hunt! 👋 I'm Garrett, creator of FundFlow.
What inspired me to build this?
I got really into personal finance about two years ago and became obsessed with one question: How do I save as much as possible toward my goals while still being able to spend leftover money guilt-free?
That second part was key for me. I didn't want to feel guilty every time I bought coffee or went out with friends. But I also didn't want to wonder if I was sabotaging my savings goals.
How it started:
I built a dead-simple website for myself. I'd input my paycheck amount, and it would split it into preset "buckets"—different savings accounts, retirement, emergency fund—based on percentages I set. Nothing fancy, just enough to stop me from overthinking every paycheck.
It worked... but it was still manual. I had to track my spending separately, manually enter my bills, and constantly recalculate if anything changed.
What problems was I trying to solve?
The real problem wasn't tracking expenses (plenty of apps do that). It was decision fatigue around paychecks.
Every two weeks: "Okay, I got paid. How much to save? How much are to bills? What about that credit card? Can I afford to spend $100 this weekend without derailing everything?"
I wanted to eliminate that mental math and the guilt that comes with uncertainty.
How my approach evolved:
Started with: Simple percentage-based bucket calculator
↓
Realized I needed: Full budget tracking and bill management
↓
Users asked for: Debt payoff optimization (turns out everyone has student loans or credit cards)
↓
Freelancers asked for: Business expense tracking, separate from persona.l
↓
Built: Smart Paycheck Allocation engine that handles ALL of it
The big breakthrough was realizing people don't think in monthly budgets—they think in paychecks. "I get paid Friday, what do I do with this money?" That's the question FundFlow answers.

What I learned building this:
Testing is everything for financial apps. One wrong calculation and users lose trust instantly. That's why I built the backend to 90% test coverage before even thinking about marketing.
Also: Building in public helps. I've been posting daily standups and got incredible feedback from people dealing with the same paycheck anxiety I had—including freelancers who needed business expense tracking that didn't cost $50/month.
Why I'm here today:
I'm looking for honest feedback from real users. The core features work great, but I want to know:
What features are you missing?
What's confusing or frustrating?
What would make this a must-have tool for you?
Is the Smart Paycheck Allocation actually solving the problem, or does it need tweaking?
Questions for you:
How do you currently split your paychecks?
Do you struggle with the "can I afford this?" question?
Freelancers/business owners: How do you separate business from personal expenses?
What would make paycheck planning easier for you?
