Hi everyone! I'm Moises, a solo developer from Spain, and I built ftlite because I got tired of paying for tools I never used.
For years I ran my freelance business on Holded. It's a solid product, but I was only ever touching one corner of it: invoices and quotes. Accounting, taxes, expense tracking — all of that goes to my gestoría (accountant), like it does for most freelancers and small businesses in Spain. I was paying full price for a full back-office suite and using maybe 10% of it.
So I built ftlite: just the part that actually matters day to day for a small business — fast, clean invoicing and quotes, nothing else bolted on. No accounting module you'll never open, no tax forms you'll never file yourself, no bloat.
The approach changed a lot along the way. I started out trying to replicate Holded's structure but stripped down, and quickly realized that's the wrong instinct — a "lite" version of a big tool still carries its assumptions. Instead I rebuilt around the actual workflow of someone who just needs to send a professional invoice or quote in under a minute, get paid, and move on. Compliance (VeriFactu, Spain's new e-invoicing requirements) was built in from day one rather than bolted on later, since that's the one part you can't outsource to your accountant.
Give it a try and let me know what you think — and I'd love feedback from anyone who's ever felt like their invoicing software was doing too much. What's the one feature you actually use in your current tool?
