Hi everyone πŸ‘‹! My name is Arnold I am a strong believer in hiring people based on skill, not just talk πŸ‘Œ My past job searches exposed my struggle with self-presentation. Despite knowing I have the skills, it's been frustrating to see opportunities slip away πŸ’€ πŸ’‘The idea behind Frontend Arena is to create a platform that gives every developer a fair shot at landing a frontend position or freelance gig. Also, it will allow developers to compete and learn from each other, seeing their strengths and weaknesses in action. The biggest winner in all of this is the design owner, who will witness their project come to life in real timeπŸ† The app is 2 weeks old and completely free to use βœ… I'm eager to hear your feedback! πŸ₯Ί Good luck on your entrepreneurial journey πŸš€

@arnold_lambou Congratulations on the launch. Is this a platform for designers, right?
Arnold L.
Thank you @kostyadoronin , the app is for frontend developers looking for gigs or new positions and for company or person having a design ready to be implemented

Oh wow this looks like an interesting way to do contract work! Really interested to see how this works out for your team! πŸš€

Smart product ngl!...but bow does the Figma design competition platform ensure a seamless and fair process for developers to showcase their skills with pixel-perfect precision? Can you elaborate on the specific tools or mechanisms in place to evaluate and choose the winning designs, and how users can customize the bounties to align with their specific project requirements?
Arnold L.
Thank you for your feedback @zayan_riyaz , Since the platform is currently focused on web app projects, we have a handy preview feature. This allows clients to test the responsiveness of the submitted implementation. While customization options are still under development, think of Frontend Arena as a streamlined Upwork for web app implementation. Developers submit proposals (in the form of finished code!) for fixed-price projects, including landing pages, complex components, and even multi-page sites. For now, developers will access read-only design files, fixed project prices, and the potential for direct hiring (if the client chooses their work).

As a competition platform (for example if you were offering prizes) I think this is an okay idea. As a job interview platform, I think it's a terrible idea. 1. It promotes the idea of spec work, which is broadly recognized as bad: https://www.google.com/search?q=... (counterpoint: https://www.google.com/search?q=...) 2. In the real world, a pixel-perfect design is usually not the right thing. The best product implementations (in my opinion) come from an iterative collaboration between design and development. 3. It encourages speed over quality. Admittedly this is a touchy subject for me personally because I am by nature more focused on doing quality work, and I consequently tend to be a bit slower than others. (This caused a lot of heartache during my recent job search. For example, one interviewer's feedback after a coding challenge was "most people just dive in and start coding, but you took time to plan and organize things." That sounded like a compliment to me, but he meant it as a negative!)

Thank you for your feedback @probertson I understand where you are coming from and I have also been rejected during a coding interview and the reason was "Our developers usually finish this in less than 30min". The pain was insane for sure. But I recognize that execution speed can be crucial, so I vowed to improve for the next opportunity. Not every approach will resonate with every user. There is a price at the end of all challenges and possibly a hiring opportunity depending on the client. The currently available designs serve as portfolio-building practice. Hopefully some clients will create challenges with prize πŸ† soon Thanks again for your feedback. I'll make some adjustments to clarify the concept.
