Free Piano Tool (freepianotool.com) — a free, browser-based 88-key piano and musician's reference utility, positioned at the intersection of "quick practice tool" and "tuning/ear-training reference."
What it does
At its core, it's a full 88-key virtual piano you can play instantly in the browser — no download, no install, no signup friction. Each key is labeled, so it works for beginners who don't yet read note names as well as more experienced players. The piano uses sampled Grand Piano audio rather than a synthesized tone, so it's aiming for a more authentic sound than a typical toy virtual-keyboard app.
Layered on top of the piano are two practice-focused utilities:
A440 concert pitch reference — a standard tuning tone (440Hz = the "A" all Western instruments tune to), useful for tuning other instruments by ear or checking pitch
Built-in metronome — for rhythm practice while playing
That combination — piano + tuning reference + metronome — is a deliberate niche. It's not trying to be a full DAW or a "learn piano" gamified app; it's positioned as the fast, no-friction tool a musician reaches for mid-practice-session when they need a quick pitch reference or a beat to play along to.
