Since May I've been building something that started with a simple frustration. My local fishmonger always seemed to have fish on display, way past its best. 🧐 I kept thinking — if only they could let local people know the moment fresh stock lands, everyone benefits: more sales, less waste, and locals get the best quality product.
I find it staggering how much food goes to waste on a daily basis. A friend works at a well known coffee shop/bakery. They often leave work struggling to carry what must be at least 5kg of unsold baked goods.
I started to look at wastage in other shapes and forms on the high street. Hair and beauty salons with empty chairs losing revenue by the hour. Fitness classes running at half capacity. Flowers losing their appeal on florists' shelves. I then considered how businesses reach local people, often spending hundreds of pounds a year on printed flyers, that usually go straight in the bin.
That is when I had my eureka moment.💡⚡ What if businesses could advertise to local people when it matters most - to waste less and sell more. That's how Flyercat was born. 🎉
