I love the product, was looking up more info and found this: https://myleaflight.com/
When looking at the selling price I'm wondering if this is a scam...?
@andre_silvertand Hi Andre, this website and a couple others have ripped off our imagery and are complete scams. They're pumping lots of money into facebook/instagram ads as well. Please don't give them your money!
Hi Product Hunters,
I’m Aaron, a co-founder of Color+light, the company behind Fluora. Color+light is a collective of artists, designers, and engineers that create unforgettable experiences with unique lighting technology.
Artists from our studio have built public installations all across the globe, and delivered more than $10 million dollars worth of digital art to top tier clients like Google and Spotify.
We’ve also partnered with organizations and artists at the apex of the entertainment, too, from Coachella to Diplo and Billie Eilish.
Of all of the digital art we’ve brought to life over the years has been limited to a certain space, event, or timeframe. Fluora was created out of a desire to expand our reach and make the incredible experiences we loved creating more accessible. With Fluora, we’re excited to finally bring immersive lighting technology into the home.
We designed Fluora to elevate everyday moments and rituals. It’s great for social gatherings, movie screenings, dinner parties, date nights. Fluora also can help you wake up and focus, as well as relax and sleep.
Down the road, we plan on having fluora seamlessly integrate with the rest of your smart home products and ecosystem, and more dynamic apps & experiences such as Spotify, Peloton, and Calm.
By the way, the videos and photos you see on this product page are from the real product, not renders!
We’d love to hear what you think, so don’t be afraid to drop us a comment below!
@aaronopp Wowzy! this is definitely going to my #wfh station desk.
Its a big ask however,
To start with few perks for #wfh employee or gamers:
1. It enlights the mode when its much close to you beside your laptop screen.
2. Play according to playlist especially to sounds of music that enhance the work flow and the light that follows to the flow of the music.
3. Carry anywhere we go.
4. Make a launch in India as well, i assure you we would love it. (white-label it)
The question is: Will this be costly growth marketing to start with based on the conditions we work from home. You are sure about one thing and that is i am already pumped/onboarded to get one for myself but will this be expensive enough to crush your hopes. And hence my dear request to build a miniature version for all the #wfh colleagues around the world.
I am sure in mere future, enjoying the real nature will take some time but meanwhile lets all get experience you are getting to the homes makes everyone feel special for the moments they spend in the house.
Good Luck!! Cheers.
Incase you have something in mind and would love to talk more about this, i will be available on LinkedIn: www.linkedin.com/in/iamvarunnair
Yours sincerely,

@aaronopp@iamvarunnair Hi Varun, thanks for the kind words! We are planning on baking music reactivity into the product! We are also planning on releasing a smaller, tabletop version of fluora in 2021. Hoping to launch internationally next year as well.
@aaronopp@iamvarunnair, Thank you hearing out, I really appreciate that. Also if you give me nudge when its available for early access, i wouldn't want to miss that.
What's the natural environment impact of these "plants"? It's 2020, are you just replacing actual nature with ephemeral things that mimic nature? It would be great if there was an actual benefit in it.
@ibaldo Thanks for the note! Of course, Fluora has more of an environmental impact than a living, breathing houseplant. But, as a light or piece of electronics, Fluora is pretty sustainable. The LED Leaves are made from polycarbonates that are fully recyclable at the end of their life. LEDs are one of the most sustainable light sources on the market. They last longer 5x and consume 75% less energy than other lights (incandescent bulbs, fluorescent tubes, etc.). LEDs do not contain significant amounts of any harmful components, they are classed as RoHS compliant. They don’t contain any mercury, and don’t emit any polluting, UV, infrared, or other radiation and pose no health hazards.
The product looks amazing, just a question. Isn't pricing a bit high given that broad spectrum lighting can be as cheap as $50 with the Xiaomi led lamps? Sure plant form is a piece of art and looks much better but x10 pricing?
@aris_alexis Hi Aris, thanks for the note! Of course, when you compare us to Chinese smart light manufacturers, we are expensive. These manufacturers are in a volume business, and make hundreds of thousands, if not millions of these products a year. The economics of scale they can achieve is much greater that what we can achieve as a small hardware company.
Rather than wanting to make a smaller desk lamp or light, we opted to create something with a bigger footprint and more light throw, so just having 1 fluora plant in your living room would completely change the vibe. This ended up leading to larger components, and a more expensive product. At max brightness, Fluora will produce 2-3x the amount of light of these singular smart bulbs, and has way more of a dynamic range and room for unique and interesting integrations with other apps than these other smart bulbs.

Wow, these are beautiful. Great job Fluora team! I’ve seen some of your larger installations and this is the perfect encapsulation of your creativity.
I will definitely be grabbing a couple of these for my home office ☺️
(What’s the next iteration — bonsai tree, maybe?)
Hope you open up the API and SDKs so it can be connected to many other things ;)
One leaf for twitter notification, one leaf for the weather, one leaf for air pollution... endless possibilities ;)
