I'm Beren. If you have an iPhone 12 Pro or newer, you've been carrying a LiDAR scanner around for years, and almost nothing asks you to use it. FloorLens is my attempt to make it genuinely useful for anyone who has to show, measure or advertise a home.

Three things I think are actually different:

**It knows which way north is.** The scan auto-detects the building's orientation, so the plan matches the real world instead of pointing wherever you happened to start. There's a sun placed from real coordinates too, casting correct shadows — useful when someone asks whether the living room gets afternoon light.

**It measures the way your country measures.** Gross Living Area (ANSI Z765) in the US, GIA in the UK, Wohnfläche in Germany, Loi Carrez in France, SIA 416 in Switzerland, RERA carpet area in India — measured to the correct face of the wall, with below-grade space handled the way that standard says. They're estimates for advertising and planning, not a substitute for a surveyor, and the app says so.

**Nothing leaves your phone unless you decide it does.** A scan of your home is about as revealing as a file gets. Scanning, floor plans and measurements all run on-device, and no account is needed. A scan reaches the cloud only when you explicitly upload it to the web viewer, and you can delete it again from the app.
