Hey all! I'm George, the solo founder behind Flightbuddys.com, and I'm genuinely excited to share this with you today. The idea came from a feeling I kept having every time I flew alone. You go through the whole process - the check-in, the security, the long wait at the gate, and then you board, sit next to a stranger, and spend the next several hours in your own world, maybe heading to a new place. Meanwhile, somewhere on that same aircraft, someone is heading to the same destination, maybe even staying in the same area, with the same mix of excitement and nerves you have. You just never find out. I wanted to fix that. Flightbuddys lets travellers post their flight itinerary and get matched with other users on the exact same flight or overlapping legs of their journey. It works for direct flights and multi-leg connections. Matches are shown as Full Match (they share your entire journey) or Partial Match (they share one or more of your legs but travel further or from a different origin). What makes it different is the precision. You're not matched with someone going to the same country someday. You're matched with someone on your actual flight, on your actual date - before you board. Building this taught me a lot. The match logic turned out to be asymmetric in a way I didn't anticipate early on. If person-A flies JFK>DXB and B flies JFK>DXB>BKK, then from A's perspective it's a Full Match, but from B's perspective it's only a Partial Match. Same two people, two different tags depending on whose dashboard you're on. Getting that right took several rounds of testing. We also built a human review layer into every trip posting - an admin cross-checks the e-ticket before a trip goes live, which keeps the platform trustworthy from day one.
