@rrhoover @jeremiahlee wish I would have waited and not asked my wife for that Charge2 over the holidays. All I want is an activity tracker with heart rate monitoring. That's it.

@jeremiahlee give someone a used FitBit. That would be like giving someone my sweaty gym shoes that are partially worn. Wish there were a trade-in program where you could upgrade if your device is <1 yr old.

@rrhoover I think Fitbit already does a great job helping its customers stay up-to-date during the physical lifetime of the product. Fitbit has a consistent record of adding and improving features on its hardware products. For example, both Charge 2 and Blaze have received two major updates (not just fixes) since they were introduced. On the software side, Fitbit regularly releases updates to its app that make the data from a Fitbit tracker more useful. For example, the new Sleep Stages and Sleep Insights features announced today with Alta HR will also be available for Blaze and Charge 2. As for cost, Fitbit offers a warranty up to 2 years. Even at 1 year, the devices cost less than a latte a week. I hope that people get at least that much value from the product to consider purchasing a new device when one is released that they find compelling.

@chrismessina Great question! I charge my Fitbit tracker in my bathroom when I'm showering and getting ready in the morning. I don't get too many steps in that time and 15 minutes daily is enough to have the tracker perpetually charged.

I love using the Alta HR. It also shows information about your sleep pattern and gives tips on how to improve on sleep. The metrics shown in the app and on the website are very helpful. Unfortunately the Alta HR does not include floor tracking but it's understandable if they have to consider the size of the Alta HR. In addition to this I like the competitions with other users to add that extra motivation.

Pros:

Great fitness tracker with a lot of metrics

Cons:

Does not include floor tracking

@stinhambo The Fitbit Alta HR is splash-proof, but you shouldn't swim with it. For swim tracking, I recommend the Fitbit Flex 2. You can have multiple trackers sync to your Fitbit account and Fitbit will intelligently switch between which device is being worn.
