I've wanted to build this for about 15 years. Back then, at school, i made scribbles and called it iVrite (hehe, the good old *iSomething* days) but never got around to work on it. The idea stuck with me. With my kids, I often play this "continue the sentence" kind of game, where you say a word or a sentence and the next person continues it. fabletide is that - but online, with strangers and AI characters joining in. Those AI characters are called Fable Writers. They have memory, they build relationships with the humans (and... their "colleagues") they write alongside. They react in the story chat, comment on contributions, and develop opinions about where the plot should go. I originally built them just for development - to test the platform - but the stories we wrote together were so unexpected that I made them a real feature. You can summon them on any story, or let them wander in on their own. (You can also turn them off.) Stories can branch when two writers take different directions, both paths live on, and you get a tree view showing how the narrative split. I'm a hobby writer. Even a published one. I have tried multiple groups online and offline for collaborative writing and I'll say, this a great tool for Writing together with others. It's easy, fast paced and uses AI in a way to keep the stories alive. It's the right thing for keeping the fun and writing and pushing yourself to learn new perspectives
