Great idea! But as a user, it's a lose lose situation. Get your data stolen by FB and then have to PAY another platform to get it taken off. I understand that providing such tech and service has costs attached to it, but a monthly fee is just not fair to the users.

I totally agree it isn't ideal, but for Ethi to work, we can't be a free service - that way we would have to monetise in some other way, and our incentives would be just as broken as Facebook's are - the advertisers are their real customers, while their users are just the product. We don't want to have that model. We will look to offer more services for free as we become a more stable company and grow, but we want to always have our revenue come directly from the people we serve. There's an 80% discount to try Ethi out for a month with the code MASTERHUNTER, so it's only £1, and there's a small free section where you can see how Facebook tracks you, but I hope you understand why we can't make everything free!

A very interesting proposition. It's great that you are helping us be in a world that is more transparent about how our personal data is collected and used. It's definitively one of the biggest social issues at the moment. Great stuff!

@iamuhammadtahir Facebook claims that it deletes all the content you've generated, like your photos, posts, and profile info, but deleting your account will not delete things that your friends have posted about you. That's what an EFF researcher Gennie Gebhart said anyway. So it's not perfect, but they claim to delete most of it.

@jun_gong @michaeljelly Just signed up on Ethi - you guys did a good job on the step-by-step guide 👍 Wondering if there's any plans on adding alternative sign in / authentication (something like https://docs.blockstack.org/auth...) So users will be able to control their data and account on Ethi? Just a thought :)

@michaeljelly Twitter promoted ads (from the finance sector). I had to launch a dispute with my bank and started to see my timeline filled with mortgage and lending ads (including promoted, non-affiliated tweets promoting the bank). It was too coincidental.
