@dr_mike_lorence we really appreciate you mentioning the simplicity of the interface and how we packaged contents. As a student, that same feeling of being overwhelmed applies as well. We tried to make eHammurabi more approachable by building out the glossary and dictionary to provide simple explanations for things using simple English words. By aggregating all those data, we also reduce barriers to entry for people that do not even know the print resources exist. We basically digitized 90% of the stuff on the website that has never been digitized before. We still have more work to do, and we are excited to do it. Thanks again for the kind words.

eHammurabi sounds like a fantastic resource for anyone interested in ancient law codes. How accurate are the translations, and are there any plans to include additional ancient legal texts in the future? Congrats on the launch!

@kyrylosilin thanks for the comment! The translations are aggregations from up to seven sources that were hand-picked by our staff. The translations selected are from the most reputable scholars in Mesopotamian law. However, their accuracy depends on the difficulty of the translation, artifact damage, and other factors. In general, our understanding of Akkadian is pretty strong. We should appreciate your question about translation accuracy with high interest because the eHammurabi product itself was built for students and experts who wanted to compare multiple prior translations before publishing their own in books and articles. Such a tool did not exist until eHammurabi, especially our MultiView product; consequently, we hope that our minor contribution will help future generations of students and scholars as they produce better and more accurate translations. We are considering adding more legal texts in the future. At present, we have a roadmap for completing Hammurabi's Law Code in full. This includes glossary entries for definitions, dictionary entries for each and every word (so that we can build beautiful charts and data tables), and other critical contents of interest. After that, we look forward to considering other ancient legal texts with high interest. Thanks again for your comment and kind words.
