@markus_zhang@gilbert_foo@j1_g8@nat_goh Congratulations, this looks like an awesome product that's desperately needed in today's world! As a maker of an edtech product (Coding Rooms) myself, I wanted to share a few points of constructive feedback:
1. I'm not sure if this is a problem with my browser, but the links on the FAQ page (https://www.edu-pal.org/faq) don't seem to work
2. After installing the extension, it'd be super helpful if it brought me to a page to finish my onboarding process and/or a popup when I click on it (outside of Google Meet) to show me what to do next.
3. Integrated attendance tracking/exports would be great.
4. Forcing students to install the extension (while I understand this is a technical requirement) is a big hurdle when it comes to getting started. Perhaps there could be a way that students can have this as a popup/new tab link sent in the chat so that they don't need to download the extension?
5. Integrations with learning management systems (like Google Classroom might help enable adoption)
6. Being clearer about compliance (FERPA, GDPR, etc.) would be very helpful. Even though I might be able to read your privacy policy and deduce that you're compliant, it is non-obvious for most teachers.
7. It might be helpful to make clear that your product is completely free (or at least has a free tier) on the front-page.
All the best and I hope to see Edu-pal in more classrooms!
Hi @svarlamov, thank you so much for your insightful feedback! The FAQ issue was a quick fix which should be solved now, and we will take note of compliance and the new tab tips! When you enter your first Google Meet with Edu-pal, the extension redirects you to a Getting Started page. LMS integrations and attendance tracking will actually be a part of the standalone webapp platform that we are currently developing. Hope all goes with your EdTech product too!
Hi @svarlamov, thank you for your support and feedback! we've just fixed the FAQ page and it should hopefully be working now. We're changing our website to make the free-tier clearer right now, and we'll try to implement the rest of your advice as swiftly as possible. Also, wow! Coding Rooms looks like an amazing product! Having had experience learning coding myself, I sorely wished my teachers used such a resource when teaching us, it would have been a far superior alternative to our teachers walking in between desks, or submitting requests to check our code! Love it! Thanks for the support and feedback!
Hi @svarlamov , the mailing list should appear after using our site for some time!

As we pick up learning via online from 2020 onward, I often ask myself how could teachers easily gauge the level of understanding amongst students in a systematic way via online; how could we conduct group quizzes to make online learning just as interactive as in-classroom. Then we found EDU- Pal!
Dear ProductHunt, We (@markus_zhang, @gilbert_foo, @j1_g8, @nat_goh) are Edu-pal, four sixteen-year-olds launching our very first app.
During the COVID-19 lockdown, my classmates and I found our teachers struggling to move their teaching into the online space. We created Edu-pal to replicate the way teachers gauge whether students understand the material in the online space. We wanted to make e-learning just a bit easier for our teachers, and now we want to do the same for teachers worldwide.
We optimised for simplicity and ease-of-use to the extreme. Teachers can ask any question with a click, and we fill in all the missing fields (e.g. options, answer, etc) for them.
We hope Edu-pal will alleviate some of your troubles in online learning amid the new normal, and we look forward to hearing what you think!
@markus_zhang@gilbert_foo@j1_g8@nat_goh very clear usecase and nicely done. Can it also be used in other web based video conferencing tools? Like Teams, Whereby or other video tools?
@milann Thank you for your support! For now, Edu-pal only supports Google Meet (from a quick survey we determined many schools use Meet compared to other web-based platforms), but we are hard at work supporting other platforms, so please stay tuned on our website!
It’s always awesome to see young adults creating products—but in this instance, no one knows better what students need from remote learning tools than the students themselves!
Many solutions I’ve seen from traditional education software companies are clunky, difficult to use, and have little/no instruction or documentation and support is provided only for instructors. Students often have to reach out to a professor via email, the professor calls the support line and has to advocate for the student to get help. (My folks are both professors so I’ve helped by being the one listening to the hold music and let me tell you, the wait is LONG)
I am both pleased by the utility of edupal and by the trend it represents.
To the team: You’re taking on a big challenge and breaking it down into small solutions and that’s wiser than most solutions proposed from people with 10 more years of experience than y’all!
I wish you all the best! (and go, SG, represent!)
It's really a fast and convenient way for the teacher to measure the productivity and in the meantime keep the kids focused.

Nice job @markus_zhang@gilbert_foo@j1_g8@nat_goh for creating this - I think that this year has shifted the way that we all view and approach the teaching and learning experience. Shifting to remote learning has brought new challengers but also opportunities as well, and as students you know exactly what you need in the new future of learning. As you continue to build this out, perhaps one suggestion would be to allow teachers to upload content in an easier manner.
This is exactly what was missing in Google Meet (& many other tools currently used for teaching and interactive collaboration). All the best for the launch and for the next steps. 🥳
