Hi Product Hunt! I’m a college student and this is my second indie launch. I spend a lot of time learning new technologies, from programming languages and frameworks to APIs and libraries, and I kept getting overwhelmed by dense, crowded documentation. I built DocCompass to solve that: a Chrome extension developer tool that helps you find the exact docs you need based on your use case.
DocCompass keeps me from getting lost when I’m trying to learn or build something new. You describe what you’re trying to do, and it points you to the most relevant docs sections, explains pages in context, and helps you stay organized. Personally, I find the folders & color tags really useful for saving random but important doc pages so I don’t have to hunt for them again; I can just pull them from my DocCompass directory. It’s my way of keeping only the useful parts of docs without all the fluff.
Key Features
- AI‑Powered Navigation (find the exact docs fast)
- Explain This Page (instant context + next steps)
- Search History (revisit past queries)
- Bookmarks + Folders (organize your research)
- Copy as Markdown (share results cleanly)
I’d love your feedback on what’s useful, what’s confusing, and what you want next. Thanks for checking it out!
