Stop overpaying for groceries. Dishcount pulls weekly sales from 80+ stores like Kroger, ALDI, Walmart, and Publix, all in one place. Enter your ZIP, pick your stores, select the deals you want, and our AI builds personalized recipes around what's on sale this week and your food preferences. For even more savings, add items you already have and the AI will use those first when generating recipes. Dishcount is 100% free, has no ads, and was built with one goal: help families eat better for less.

Hey Product Hunt! I'm Bill, a dad from Dayton, Ohio with zero coding experience.
I came up with the idea of Dishcount because I would sit down every Sunday night and flip through multiple grocery store weekly ads trying to match what's on sale with types of recipes I know my family enjoys. This was a time consuming process and I knew there had to be an easier way to do that. After searching for solutions and coming up empty, I decided to jump right in and make it myself using AI as my coding partner.
60 days and about $400 later, Dishcount was born. You enter your zip code, pick your local stores, and it pulls all their weekly deals into one place. You can pick what items you want from each store and then it generates personalized recipes using your selected items and whatever you already have at home. It even builds your shopping list and can add items to your Kroger cart in one tap.
The whole thing runs on Node.js, Supabase, Claude AI for reading weekly ad circulars, and the Kroger API for live pricing. It costs me $17/month to operate.
I'd love your honest feedback. What's confusing, what's broken, what would make you actually use this every week? I'm here to answer questions and fix things in real time. Thanks!
@bill_mccormick09 I’ve definitely never seen anything like this before!!! 😄
@julia_zakharova2 That's always a great first-step for a new app! I did a lot of research to see if there was anything else out there offer the same services as Dishcount but, never found anything. However, I was a little nervous that I had missed something.
If you have any questions or feedback about Dishcount, let me know. Thanks!
Genius idea! Meal planning around what's already on sale is how my grandma did it. Does it handle dietary restrictions?
@daniel_rachlin Thanks for taking a look! Right now, Dishcount offers vegetarian, dairy-free, and gluten-free as dietary preferences. Once one of those are selected, the AI will search through the selected weekly deals and any items you already have an provide recipes in-line with those restrictions. I plan on including more restrictions and preferences in the future.

Congrats on the launch! @bill_mccormick09
I like how this flips meal planning on its head. Most people don’t plan first, they shop based on deals anyway.
What made you start with this idea?
@uxdbob Thanks! Dishcount was born out of my frustration with how it seemed like groceries got more and more expensive ever week and not being able to quickly compare what's on sale at my local grocery stores. I couldn't find anything that met my needs so I ended up working with Claude AI to create Dishcount. Once I was able to pull all the weekly ads, I added AI recipe creation that is customized for each person.

Just saw your reply on Reddit. Great product you got there. I struggle to come up with dinner ideas all the time, this’ll definitely help.
@rob_vb I'm glad that Dishcount is able to solve a real problem other people have! If you have any comments or feedback, please let me know. This is the first time people other than friends and family are seeing it so I'm very interested in honest feedback.
Also, congrats on launching brag.fast today. It looks like a really helpful product. If Dishcount expands, I'll be sure to give brag.fast a try. Good luck the rest of the day!
