Disagree with Me is a website to seek out and provide opposing viewpoints. It was built in response to the growing echo chambers that exist in today's social media networks. It seeks to improve the online conversation by allowing anyone to find opposing viewpoints to their ideas or opinions. It's a network built with ideas at the center.

@alexcmeyer Love the concept, but how will the quality of debate/content be maintained? IMO I don't think just setting the culture in the early days is enough. StackOverflow and Quora do great jobs. Seems like StackOverflow accomplishes this by creating a currency of "reputation" that pays people to moderate. FWIW I think @rrhoover and team have done a great job moderating PH (and not just saying that to brown-nose). What do you think have been their strategies? And are there any other strategies you will try?
@rrhoover@daflatow hey David, I totally agree. It is quite a challenge to create an anonymous online forum that encourages dissent :). The twist that I've experimented with on Disagree with Me is to have the posters do some of the moderation by giving them the ability to "Thank" responses then showing the thanked responses more prominently in the app. There are some other tools that exist behind the scenes to try and stay on top of content as it is created and flag anything that may be deemed inappropriate or off topic. In addition, anyone who's signed up can report content and those will be reviewed manually. I don't deny that this is going to be a challenge but I think staying on top of it is important, sort of like the broken glass theory.

@alexcmeyer Any thoughts on how to allow people to have "skin in the game" for both the both OP and Responder? (ala Nassim Taleb: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sk...) I feel that would make the topics and contrarian opinions much more potent.
@daflatow yup, I thought a lot about this concept as I was creating the site. I mostly thought about it in the context of whether usernames should be associated with a post/response or not. Ultimately, I decided to remove the association because I wanted to see if it could be a sort of social network where ideas were at the center rather than people. Like Taleb has also pointed out, ideas can be Antifragile, people cannot.
I'll have to think about it more if there are ways to encourage skin in the game without directly associating posts/responses to individuals. If you have any ideas for this let me know!
Hi! Simple yet great product that you have built!
Would it be possible by any chance to make the top responses more visible? Their background colors kinda blends with the app background color, that makes them hard to see sometimes.
Otherwise, good job!
@schkn thanks for the feedback! That's a good point, I can adjust the colors to make it more prominent.

Okay 😔 , I don't get it : You can get 🉐 plenty of people 👨👨👦👦 to disagree with , on 🔛 Twitter #️⃣ & Facebook , Why is another platform needed for it ? just follow people with opposite mindset on 🔛 twitter & FB to get a different viewpoint.
For example ⌛ :- I follow Roger Ver despite different view 🌄 points to get a different outlook 👀.
@aalpanigrahi so the difference between Disagree with Me and other social sites like Twitter and reddit is that 1) there are no users associated with any of the ideas, so it doesn’t fall into disagreement over the person, the ideas are central here not the people and 2) the original posters are the moderators of content, ie they have the ability to “thank” responses which then show those more prominently in the app. It’s definitely still an experiment of sorts but there’s lots more I have in mind to build around this theme then just a forum, that’s just where I started.
Love the concept! It's also tricky to keep it productive. I'm reminded of a Charlie Munger quote: “I never allow myself to have an opinion on anything that I don’t know the other side’s argument better than they do.” This would be a great platform to do that.
Cool Idea. I had a similar idea and even had the domain deliberators.com, I let it expired a few days ago. Its available if you wanted to pick it up for any reason. I like the name you came up with though. Best of luck!
@mdavep thanks! It's definitely still an experiment of sorts. Anything online that's anonymous can be quite challenging to keep productive but we'll see. Hopefully people who are generally interested in hearing an opposing viewpoint find it helpful. It's something I value myself so hope that others see value in it as well.
