This is a rather interesting concept considering that most EVs actually need to be charged themselves in order to run. It would be nice if everything we had were somehow able to generate its own power source. Could you imagine the implications on how we are mining fossil fuel and other energy sources from this planet? I'm dreaming of the day that we can make a difference with technology like that....

@aaronoleary This seems exactly the same as the Powerwall except you can optionally use the EV as a second battery. Tesla probably killed it because storing electricity in the EV battery only to use it for the house and then need to recharge the EV isn't very efficient. Am I missing something?

After we bought our plug-in hybrid PHEV, our local utility informed us that their substation is now "saturated" and will not accept power from any new solar panels we'd planned to power the new PHEV. Now, we're hoping we can buy a few new panels, feed their power into the PHEV during the day, and use the PHEV energy to power the house in the evening or during a storm outage. This could reduce our use of the utility's dirty power. We saw an estimate that a PHEV battery can power the average home for 24 hours, and if we use the car gas engine to charge the PHEV battery, we can cover ten days of electricity use per tankful. Would like feedback on these ideas.
