We’ve been watching the situation with internet scams for some time now, and we can see that it’s only getting worse. The scammers are getting better and better, while there is no sufficient protection against them, and law enforcement is too slow to act in most cases. Well, we’ve decided to do something about it!
We have developed a protection you can’t find anywhere else - the unique sauce lies in active protection, always looking for new threats. We're not just passively matching the database of known threats (although, we do that too). The detection includes all kinds of (secret) automation, AI detection of suspicious patterns, and even a manual review from an on-call person when needed.
We've realized such a tool can be a severe hit to your privacy, so that was our next priority to solve. Our approach is simple - we cannot use or abuse what we don't have. Defendera doesn't collect or save any information about your browsing activity, while still reviewing it all for your safety.
While the scammer can catch off guard anyone, the most vulnerable are less technical people still spending time online - like our parents. Defendera is designed to make the setup trivial - send a sign-in link and Defendera guides you through the rest.

Amazing! Finally somethig that I can install in my mom’s browser to help her from the not-so-obvious scams.
Gotta ask: how do you leverage AI? Do you have some locally hosted model? I’d imagine you need close to real-time responses which are hard to achieve with hosted models.

The speed is actually not that big of a problem. It takes time for the fraud to go through. A victim needs to look around, find out what is it he's supposed to do on the page, and so on. In fact, some scams can take dozens of minutes of convincing. In any way, Defendera has plenty of time to analyze everything it needs to.
When it comes to use of AI - there are common traits in majority of the scam websites, whether it's wording, or source code. Turns out, AI is a brilliant in picking those up.
And to answer your last question - models are external, for now. :)

Very intuitive and well arranged application. It is good to know that Defendera does not store information about my browsing activity and I can or anybody of my family peacefully looking on the internet what is need for. I personally put privacy on the first place with working on the internet, so Defendera is my choice number one with prevention agains the scams.
