Dead Man Send automatically sends your emails if you stop checking in. Set a timer, compose your messages, and we'll deliver them if you don't check in. Free plan available.

Hello Product Hunt,
I'm Pete, a solo dev, and I created Dead Man Send.
Dead Man Send lets you configure emails to be sent after a certain number of days if you don't check in. You write your message and forget about it.
Configure how many days of inactivity trigger the email sending. You're also sent reminder emails as the deadline approaches. Reminders to check in are sent 3 days, 2 days, 1 day and an hour before the deadline. If you don't check in before the deadline, your message is sent automatically.
Think of it as a dead man's switch for your final messages. It can also be used for less morbid things such as scheduled email reminders and business continuity.
Why did I create it?
Honestly, I wanted to create my first SaaS and have a play with some interesting technology.
I also thought this is a service I would use. Admittedly, that's probably not the greatest product validation process, but creating something is better than doing nothing.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated. Thank you.
Would love to see the option to schedule a graceful "are you still there" reminder before the final send triggers, just so someone traveling or sick doesn't accidentally fire off everything to their contacts.
@eslemgltanbs7 thanks for the feedback. It currently sends a reminder to check in 3 days, 2 days, 1 day and 1 hour before the deadline. Sorry, this is missing from my description. I'll add it now.
This is a really thoughtful idea, and I love that there's a free plan. One thing I'd suggest is adding a way to designate a secondary trusted contact who can verify you're okay, in case you're just traveling without cell service. That way the timer wouldn't trigger falsely and send messages you didn't actually need to send.
@serdarkara21102 Thank you for that suggestion. I hadn't thought of having a backup contact. Something for me to ponder. That could also be useful if you're looking after a friend or family and you could confirm that they're okay on their behalf.
Tried the deadman switch setup and it was surprisingly quick, though the free tier feels a bit limiting if you want to schedule many messages. The peace of mind from knowing important emails will still go out is genuinely reassuring.
@esiladindoruk Thanks for the feedback. I could revisit the free tier and allow more free messages. Mabye 2 or 3?
Tried it for my weekly check-in and the setup was genuinely painless, just set the timer and forget it. Wish it had more theme options for the email but the core feature works exactly as advertised.
@vedat2085041 Thanks for the great feedback. Out of interest, what sort of templates would like to see for the email? I hadn't thought about templates, but it could be helpful.
The "dead man switch" concept has been around forever but the execution here feels really clean and approachable. Love that they made something with such morbid potential feel totally normal to set up.
@semiheo1h thank you👍
Finally got around to setting up Dead Man Send for my travel weeks abroad, and the check-in process is refreshingly simple. Liked that the free plan covers a few scheduled messages already, way more useful than I expected.
@kezbanr0p1 thank you👍
