I stumbled across this app over the weekend. The video AMA's are surprisingly fun to create thanks to the video filters that reduce self-consciousness when filming yourself.
It borrows elements from Ask.fm, giving users the ability to ask people questions anonymously.
I briefly tried digging up more info about the founders and it appears this is a rebranding of Klip (http://www.klip.com/).
Would like to hear @shaanvp's thoughts on this (Monkey Inferno is building Boya, a microblogging/AMA platform).
My thoughts in a nutshell -
1. Interesting concept
2. The ability to ask annonymously is something I fundamentally disagree with as a product choice (it is a juicy initial hook, but then degrades quality over time)
3. Video browsability is always an issue - not sure if the payoff is worth losing the browsibility in this use case. We have discussed running an experiment like this for Boya, so I'll be playing with Dare to see if it's worth it !
@liveink not necessarily a bad thing, just depends on your objectives. It's a very easy lifeline to use for your product, but I believe it has an inherent set of problems that I've never seen solved gracefully.
ps - there's a major difference between anonymous SHARING (whisper) of content and anonymous ASKING (eg. Formspring, Ask.fm etc..) question to other users.
You should checkout Cap Watkins' post mortem on Forumspring in regards to anonymity - http://blog.capwatkins.com/forms...
