Hey Product Hunt 👋 I built CutX because I kept pressing ⌘X on files and getting nothing. I switched to Mac from Windows and my hands never adjusted. The interesting part was deciding what NOT to build. My first instinct was to move the files myself with FileManager — but that means reimplementing name-conflict handling, cross-volume copies, progress reporting and rollback. That's the code where a bug destroys someone's files. So CutX doesn't move anything. It asks Finder to. It forwards a copy on ⌘X and Finder's own "Move Item Here" on ⌘V. Every hard case is handled by code Apple already wrote and tested — which is why ⌘Z undoes a CutX move, and why you get the real progress window and the real Replace/Keep Both dialog. Two honest limitations: Windows dims the files you cut. macOS gives third-party apps no way to draw inside a Finder window, so instead you get a count in the menu bar and a small indicator when you cut. I'd rather say that up front than have people wonder why it looks different. And it's not on the Mac App Store. I tried. Apple rejected it: reading ⌘X requires the Accessibility permission, and App Store rules say that permission may only be used for accessibility features. There's no sanctioned alternative I could find — the Cut command in Finder is permanently disabled, so there's no menu item or Service to attach to. So CutX is a direct download, signed and notarized by Apple, opens with one click. It's free, MIT licensed, no ads, no tracking, no account, and it makes no network connections at all. Eleven languages, including a properly mirrored Arabic interface. Happy to answer anything especially if you know a sanctioned way to do this that I missed. Ahmed
