@art_chang thanks for your question! I did actually pose the very same question to some founders of blockchain startups. I'd say the main reason is that a "blockchain experienced engineer" has been exposed in the past to this rapidly changing technological landscape in the space while remaining committed and aligned with the community's values. It's true that you can get, say, a JS developer to become a Solidity developer in a relatively short time, but when Solidity goes and new technology comes what's the value of that engineer going to be for your project?

@anton_mishchenko that is good insight. I agree, the biggest reason does seem to be interest in the tech and values blockchain brings. Also, the point about a JS only developer can probably be said about any type of work.

Hiring devs is definitely an issue right now in the blockchain space, particularly because it's evolving so rapidly. What's your process for verifying skill level in dev candidates? And how do you typically source your candidate pool?

@nneuman Hi Nick! Thanks for asking! We leverage a talent pool not many other platforms managed to get into and therefore you can rarely find our candidates anywhere else! We work with hundreds of agencies (consultancies, dev shops etc.) that vet and hire local talent in their respective territories, manage them and therefore know their skillset and availability. Then they reveal this information on our platform on developers' profiles. In practice this means that we only have to vet agencies when onboarding them rather than all individual specialists on the platform.
