Cropy.it is a native menu-bar screenshot tool for macOS (and Windows) that keeps everything on your device — no cloud, no account, no tracking. Capture a precise area, full screen, window or a scrolling page, then annotate with arrows, shapes, blur, numbered badges and text. Pull selectable text out of any shot with built-in OCR, copy instantly, and find every capture again in the history. One-time purchase, no subscription, free updates — 30-day free trial.

love that everything stays local, honestly that was the main thing pulling me away from cloud tools. one thing though - it would be great if the OCR could auto detect the language instead of having to pick english every time, especially when grabbing text from screenshots with mixed languages.
Thank you so much, @siannapatel, that really means a lot 🙏
Local-first is the whole reason Cropy.it exists. Your screenshots often hold pretty personal stuff, and I just never liked the idea of that passing through someone else's cloud. Your data is safest with you, full stop: no account, no upload, no tracking.
And great news on the OCR: it's actually not tied to a single language 🙂 It recognizes the text itself, not a preset language, so English, German, French, mixed-language screenshots, whatever's on screen, it just reads it. You shouldn't have to keep switching to English; grab the text and it's copied as-is.
If you ever hit a case where it doesn't pick something up cleanly, I'd genuinely love a quick example, always looking to make it sharper. Thanks again for trying it and for the thoughtful note! 🙌
