I built Croply because I kept running into the same frustrating workflow problem: every platform wants a different video format. If you record horizontally, it doesn’t feel native on TikTok or Reels. If you record vertically, it’s awkward for YouTube or longer-form content. So creators either compromise, crop later, or shoot the same moment twice. I wanted to make that process feel invisible. Croply records vertical and horizontal video simultaneously in a single take, so creators can focus on capturing the moment instead of thinking about formats, reframing, or editing afterward. The goal wasn’t just “dual recording” as a technical feature — it was reducing friction between creating and publishing. One thing that surprised me during development was how much the challenge shifted from engineering to product experience. At first, I focused heavily on camera capabilities and advanced controls. But after testing early versions, I realized most people cared more about speed, simplicity, and reliability. They wanted to open the app, hit record, and immediately have content ready for every platform. That changed the direction of the product quite a bit. I simplified the UI, reduced unnecessary setup steps, improved recording stability, and focused on making the workflow feel effortless. Features like simultaneous 9:16 + 16:9 capture, instant-ready outputs, and one-time Pro unlock all came from that process. Croply is really built around a simple idea: Shoot once. Post everywhere.
