Growing up, I often felt that nobody truly listened to me or gave my thoughts enough space. I learned to keep many things inside. I think a lot of you would resonate with this.
When I began speaking openly with AI, it listened without interrupting or judging me. It helped me organize thoughts I could not explain, recognize patterns in my behavior, question my assumptions, and consider perspectives I had previously missed. Over time, I became more self-aware, more articulate, and a better thinker.
These experiences showed us both the power and the limitations of current AI. A single assistant can make someone feel heard, but it can also become overly agreeable or remain trapped within one interpretation.
My cofounder, @whatranjusaid, connected with Council immediately because she understood the heart of it: when someone is carrying a difficult thought, the product should not rush to fix them. It should give them room, perspective, and a way to think more clearly. With years of tech experience, including senior engineering work, she brought the taste, speed, and care that helped turn a deeply personal idea into a real product.
Council is the product I needed while growing up. It is not one artificial voice telling you what to think. It is an inner circle that helps you think more clearly for yourself.
We have already turned this personal insight into a working product with text conversations, real-time voice, persistent memory, journaling, dynamic council discussions, and support for multiple AI providers. We have worked through difficult product questions involving agent personalities, productive disagreement, synthesis, privacy, emotional safety, and conversational design.
Our founder advantage comes from the combination of lived experience, strong product conviction, and execution speed. We care about this problem beyond its potential as a market opportunity because we know what it feels like to carry important thoughts with nowhere to put them.
We also understand the responsibility involved. Council is positioned as a tool for reflection and emotional support, not as therapy, diagnosis, treatment, medical care, or crisis support.
Funding would help us validate retention, strengthen our safety and evaluation systems, recruit clinical and trust advisors, conduct structured user research, and bring Council to mobile.
@alpaysh healing is sooooooo back
@whatranjusaid council ftw
Council started from a personal place: sometimes one answer is not enough when you’re anxious, ashamed, or stuck in your head.
My cofounder @alpaysh and I built it as part of an OpenAI hackathon: a small inner circle of AI guides that listen, bring different perspectives, and help you leave with one grounded next step.
You can use it in Voice Room for a face-to-face guide experience, or Council Discussion when you want the guides to reason through something together. My favorite is Animal mode.
We’re still early and would love feedback, intros, or support from people who care about this space.
Council is reflection support, not medical care.

Council never ever Judges. Council just listens, discusses and helps you rewire your messy thoughts and unburden them.
