Coral Focus turns focus sessions into a growing coral reef. Focus and your coral grows. Get distracted and it bleaches, just like real reefs under stress. Unlike timers that use trees or generic rewards, it's built around real coral species (Staghorn, Sea Fan, Brain Coral) unlocked as you focus. Plus site blocking, ocean sounds, and weekly/yearly reef gardens. A solo project inspired by real reef restoration, with the goal of one day supporting it.
Hey Product Hunt ,
I'm a solo developer, and I built Coral Focus after years of spending time in the ocean, surfing, diving, and free diving. Over that time I've seen firsthand how climate change is affecting coral reefs, and it stuck with me.
I wanted to build something that connected everyday focus with that bigger picture. Most focus timers grow trees or use generic rewards, but nothing tied the idea of growth and loss to something I actually cared about. So I made a timer where your focus grows a real coral reef, and where losing focus bleaches it, the same thing happening to reefs in the real ocean right now.
The problem I'm trying to solve is twofold. On the surface, it's distraction and staying focused in a world full of open tabs. But underneath, it's about awareness, using a tool people open every day to remind them that reefs are worth paying attention to.
The approach evolved a lot. It started as a simple timer, but I leaned into making the coral real: actual reef-building species like Staghorn, Sea Fan, and Brain Coral, unlocked as you focus more. I added site blocking, ocean sounds, and weekly and yearly gardens so your focus builds into something you can look back on.
It's free, and it's just the beginning. The long-term goal is to use this to support real coral restoration work and give back to the people doing it in the ocean.
