I'm Sai, and I built CompressYourVideo because every "free online video compressor" had the same pattern: upload your video to a server, hit a paywall, watch a watermark land on your file, or hand over your email.

This one runs entirely in your browser. Your video file never leaves your device — there's no upload progress bar because there's nothing to upload. Compression happens on your machine with hardware acceleration on Chrome / Edge / Safari 17+, falling back to ffmpeg.wasm on older browsers. Same browser tab either way.

A few things I tried to get right:

- Platform-aware presets: pick "WhatsApp" and we hit 16MB exactly. Pick "Discord" and we hit 10MB. No fiddling with bitrate sliders.
- Honest fallbacks: if your source is already smaller than the target, we tell you and skip the encoder instead of producing a slightly-bigger file.
- 17 languages: started seeing real Spanish, Hindi, and Portuguese traffic the week the localizations went live, so it stays.
- No ads, no signup, no email, no watermark, no paid tier ever.

Where the existing tools beat us: VEED has a real editor, EZGif handles GIFs better, Kapwing has team features. If you need those, use those. If you just need to shrink a phone video to fit WhatsApp without an account, I think this is the lightest tool that gets the job done.
