Hi Product Hunt! Tim here again.
Getting a building permit almost always means getting a comment letter (also called a correction or plan check letter) back with dozens of comments on your plans. Before you can resubmit, someone has to work through each one: look up the code, check the drawings, figure out who needs to act, and write a response.
Our customers tell us that turning that letter into a work plan can take a couple of days. With general AI tools like Claude or ChatGPT, you still need to verify that the answer reflects the applicable state and municipal codes, the right edition, and your city's amendments. A plausible answer can still lead you in the wrong direction.
We built Comment Letter to help homeowners, small architecture firms, and contractors get through that work with less effort and more confidence.

Here's how it works in:
Got a comment letter? Upload it and the plans you submitted. In 10–20 minutes, Comment Letter extracts the comments, checks them against your city's building codes and your drawings, and drafts a response for each one. It flags likely violations, requirements your plans already satisfy, and comments you may be able to push back on.
You get code and drawing references you can open and check. Trust, but verify.
The report is also a shared tracker. Assign comments to your architect, engineer, or contractor, ask follow-up questions in chat, and export the city's letter as a Word document with your responses under each comment.
It runs on the same Ichi AI engine used by building departments, plan review consultants, and large architecture firms. We wanted to make that available to people navigating the permit process on a much smaller scale.
There’s no account to create and no subscription. Preview a few responses for free, then pay once to unlock the full report and Ichi chat with national, state, and municipal codes. If it isn’t useful, tell us within 14 days and we’ll refund you.
If you have a correction letter in your inbox, I’d love for you to try it. We’re offering Product Hunt users 50% off.
Tell us how it goes. And please, if you like it, share your ideas: what part of the permit process should we tackle with the next Ichi tool? I bet you may not be working on a construction project right now, so save the link for the future and share it with fellow architects and engineers — they’ll thank you!
