Spec-first AI software factory: idea to tested code

Most AI builds break around feature four because nothing ever defined the product. Codalio starts there. Describe your idea in plain English and it writes a validated PRD and spec: user flows, data model, user stories and acceptance criteria. It then generates code against that spec, writes the tests from the same criteria, and traces every change back to a requirement before the merge. Codalio Cloud takes you 95ā98% of the way to production grade. Start with a free PRD.

Hi Product Hunt, I'm Ehsan, founder of Codalio ā a spec-first AI software factory.
I've been a tech entrepreneur since 1999, and for the last seven years I've worked on one question: why does software break long before anyone writes bad code?
Founder after founder told us the same story. They described their idea to an AI app builder, had a great demo by the weekend, and then it fell apart around feature four. Every new prompt broke something that used to work. They couldn't read the code, couldn't judge the architecture, and couldn't tell whether the next developer was telling them the truth.
The model wasn't the problem. Nothing ever wrote down what the product actually was. No requirements, no spec, no definition of done. So every prompt was a fresh guess, and guesses don't add up to a system. Senior engineers have always started from the spec. Most people building with AI skip it.
That's why we built Codalio, the spec-first AI software factory. Our belief is simple: your code shouldn't be as good as your prompts. It should be as good as your business context.
Today we're launching Codalio:
ā Describe your product in plain English. Codalio asks what it still needs, then writes a full PRD, section by section, each part scored before it moves on.
ā It turns the PRD into a spec: user flows, data model, roles and permissions, and user stories with acceptance criteria. "Done" is defined before any code exists.
ā It builds the prototype and the code against that spec, writes the tests from the same criteria, and checks the build against every one. In the run you see in our gallery: 81 of 81 criteria passing.
ā Rules like who can see what are written into the PRD and carried through the build, not bolted on at the end. Every line traces to a requirement, a test, and a compliance check, with three review passes before your engineer approves the merge. The code lives in your GitHub.
We're straight about where it ends. Codalio Cloud carries 90ā98% of the build. Your team, an agency, or Codalio takes the last mile in Codalio Studio (coming soon) or the tools you already use.
Launch week offer, Oct 6ā12:
- Free trial: start with a free PRD
- $100 off the $100 plan for the first 50 customers: code LUCKY5
- 50% off all plans: code 50PERCENTPH
- $50 off a $100 top-up: code 50OFFCREDIT
I'd love your honest take: what's the one thing that broke when you built with AI, and would a spec have caught it? I'll be here all day answering every comment.
