What's great

I'm very impressed by both the onboarding experience and the minimal UI. I've seen similar products in the past, but the lack of any direction to use the tools available makes the experience confusing and daunting. From the getgo, Clipses felt very intuitive and easy to use.

The guided tutorial and videos makes it easy to start using the core features immediately. I clipped a portion from the demo transcript, requested to download a reel, and I received an email notification when the download was ready. The reel was the exact portion I was expecting. The entire process was seamless.

I will be hosting an AI event with a number of speakers sharing their project and workflow in the coming weeks. Instead of manually spending hours editing in Final Cut Pro or Capcut to make reels, I will be looking to use Clipses for this very purpose.

Very excited to see the growth of this project. Well done to the team!

What needs improvement

A neat QoL feature: For horizontal videos (16:9), if there is a way to save the reel in portrait format (9:16), that would be convenient for users that don't know how to manually convert/crop a horizontal video for socials.

vs Alternatives

The onboarding experience and video tutorial made the experience smooth and easy to use. I also appreciate the minimal, intuitive UI.

Thanks so much, Ben! Your comment is exactly the point. Most researchers just want a clip, not to learn video editing tools like Final Cut Pro, which are often too complex and have a challenging learning curve. Clipses is designed to be simple. Video in, pick your clips, video out. No timestamp scrubbing or complicated UI.

What's great

Clipses addresses a pain point of qual researchers in both industry and academia by cutting out the need to spend hours editing video and audio files to pull relevant quotes. With Clipses, researchers can elegantly navigate their transcripts, code their data, and extract clips to create reels or samples for presentations. Whether your deliverable is aimed at C-suite or a conference, there's real value here that will save people time (and money) and provide additional polish. Based on my time with this tool and the developers, I think it's likely that Clipses will become indispensable to both career researchers and students of qual methods.

What's great

This is super easy to use, very intuitive. Processing video is quite a chore, and I like how this fits the way I review transcripts for meaningful moments. Nice work!

What needs improvement

I'd love to be able to select specific text inside clips!

Thanks so much, Kat! You can actually select sub-portions of text by using your cursor to highlight a selected portion and add only a fraction of a quote to your reel. But if that workflow isn't obvious, maybe we need to make some updates! Will take a look and address that with the team

What's great

Tried the demo and really liked how simple and focused the workflow feels. As someone who does UX research, I know how time-consuming it can be to go through hours of interviews and pull out the moments that matter.

The ability to quickly search conversations, find key insights, and create clips without digging through recordings feels like a huge time saver. Excited to see how Clipses continues to evolve. Congrats on the launch, Natalie and team!
