Turn real-world places into social communities

Think of a place you love: your gym, a basketball court, a park, a campus, a café, your favorite spot in nature, a hangout with friends, or even a party. Find it on the map, create a Chispot, choose its size, and decide who can discover it or see what's inside. The catch? You have to be physically within the Chispot's boundary to post photos or videos. Real places, real people, real moments.

Imagine being able to click on a location anywhere in the world, whether Mount Everest or the middle of the ocean, and see the latest perspectives shared by people who were actually there. This could be the closest thing we have to omnipresence.
With Chispot, anyone can create a community around a location on a map, set its boundaries and privacy, and let people share experiences there. To post photos or videos, you have to actually be within that location's boundary.
I've experienced the evolution of social media firsthand, from AOL chat rooms, Hi5, and Myspace to Facebook, Reddit, Instagram, Snapchat and Discord. All we crave in society is meaningful connections, we're due for an evolution in the social media landscape. People want to get outside, explore, and connect with the world around them. I believe we have a natural affinity to the land that social media hasn't fully tapped into yet, and I want to explore that potential with Chispot.
Chispot's moon logo is inspired by the African tradition of gathering under the moonlight to tell stories. I want to bring some of that spirit to social media. I wonder what would happen if we let the land influence how we post. Would we be more authentic and create more genuine interactions? People already form connections with their surroundings, so why not let these places help curate our digital connection.
"Instead of letting social media determine how we experience the world, what if we let the world determine how we experience social media" - ChatGPT
I deliberately built Chispot to be open-ended. Individuals, businesses, and organizations can create communities around any location, and I want users to get creative with how they use it, whether that's sharing experiences, organizing events, or even creating scavenger hunts and competitions between or within Chispots.
Personally, I'm also fascinated by nature, and I'd love for Chispot to help people discover and share beautiful places around the world. I hope that by helping people develop a deeper connection to these places, we might also inspire them to appreciate, protect, and take better care of their surroundings.
