CentsMath is a growing set of free US finance calculators for the money decisions people actually face - debt payoff, mortgage extra payments, Roth vs Traditional, HYSA vs CD vs Treasury, Coast FIRE, and more. Every tool shows its formula in plain English, cites the primary source (IRS, CFPB, TreasuryDirect), and has its math covered by automated tests. No signup, no paywall, and nothing you type ever leaves your browser.
Hi PH 👋 I'm Tanish, an indie dev, and I built CentsMath because I was tired of finance calculators that are black boxes - numbers in, verdict out, formula hidden - or that wall the good stuff behind a signup.
So I set three rules for every tool: show the formula in plain English, cite the primary source (IRS/CFPB/DOL/TreasuryDirect), and cover the math with automated tests before it ships. A few do things the big sites skip - the Roth vs Traditional one actually invests the tax savings and shows your break-even tax rate; the rent vs buy one will honestly tell you to keep renting when that's the better call.
It's all free, no signup, and nothing you enter leaves your browser. Would genuinely love feedback - especially if any number looks off, since accuracy reports get fixed first. Thanks for taking a look!
