Cash Forth combines and automates transactions with any recurrence type, and presents a clean forecast based on real world timing. A lightweight alternative to spreadsheets - it’s highly customizable, yet easy enough for anyone to use. Catch overdraft risk early. Move excess cash with confidence. Optimize cash flow and get the most out of your money.
After years of using spreadsheets to forecast cash flow, I built Cash Forth to more easily answer questions like:
• “How much can I move from checking to high yield savings today?”
• “How much extra can I put toward credit card debt this month?”
• “Will I run out of money on my current trajectory?”
• “How much buffer do I actually need in checking?”
The problem is income and expenses occur at various frequencies and intervals, so it’s hard to predict what your cash balance will be at any given date in the future. That’s where forecasting comes in. Spreadsheets give you flexibility and autonomy to forecast how you want, but it’s time consuming, and you can’t get very far without technical skills. I wanted something else to do the heavy lifting, and for it to be so easy that anyone could use it.
Cash Forth is narrowly focused, and works well alongside other tools - like online banking, budgeting apps, or net worth trackers. Think of it as GPS for money – your budget/financial goals are the destination; Cash Forth helps you make the right moves to get there. I personally use Cash forth on a weekly basis. As new information comes in, I update and consult the forecast before moving any cash into or out of checking.
Features include:
• Ledger and chart forecast viewing options: 30 days, 90 days, 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years into the future.
• Organized inputs: create/edit income and expense transactions with any recurrence: one time, biweekly, monthly, custom/sporadic, etc.
• Balance threshold alerts: Be visually alerted when any future balance is projected to go below, or above any threshold amount you choose.
• Unlimited Guest Mode: test it out in single sessions for free as much as you’d like. Forecast automatically saves with a subscription.
• Optional - Import a CSV file from your bank: Cash Forth will categorize historic transactions and reproduce them into a forecast (subscription required).
I would greatly appreciate any feedback – what’s useful, what’s missing, potential UI improvements, etc.
Thanks!
-Joe
