CartPause is a "pause before you buy" app that adds a timer between you and any online purchase. Instead of one-click checkout, you share an item to CartPause from any store, Amazon, Target, Walmart, anywhere, and a customizable timer starts. When it expires, decide if you still want it. Most people don't: 73% of paused items never get purchased, saving the average member around $2,400 a year! It's a simple loop: Pause → Reflect → Decide. Private, ad-free, $0 to start. Give it a try!

Hi PH 👋
I built CartPause after 16 years designing the systems that make buying frictionless at Microsoft and Amazon. I was the guy adding "one-click checkout" and "frequently bought together" to your screen. I was also the guy drowning in packages I barely remembered ordering.
The fix is simple in theory: wait before buying. In practice it's impossible to remember when the dopamine is flowing.
CartPause is the system I wish existed:
• See something you want → share to CartPause from any store (Amazon, Target, Etsy, Nike — anywhere with the iOS Share Sheet)
• A 72-hour timer starts. The item sits in a private cart, not a retailer's wishlist that's used to recommend more to you.
• When the timer ends, one notification: Buy it / Save for Someday / Skip
• Skipped items get logged in a running "saved" total
What we're seeing from real usage (not survey claims):
• 73% of paused items never get purchased — the urge fades on its own
• Average user keeps ~$2,400/year that would've been impulse spent
• Buyer's remorse on remaining purchases drops ~80%
Honest trade-offs:
• iPhone only today (Android on the roadmap)
• Free for 5 paused items at a time; Pro is $1.99/mo for unlimited + Someday list + widget
• Not a budgeting app. No envelopes, no transaction sync. Just the pause.
I'd especially love feedback on the share-extension flow as it's where the magic happens and where I think there's still room to make it feel even more invisible.
