Stop refreshing the air quality map. Canairy watches it for you and speaks up only when it matters. You set your own alert thresholds, tuned to how sensitive you or your family are, and get a push or text the moment any of your places crosses that line, with quiet hours so it never buzzes at 2am. It reads real-time, block-level data from the PurpleAir network for up to 10 locations, no hardware to buy. Free to start. Real peace of mind for smoke season and year-round asthma.

One thing that would make this even better is sharing alerts with family members automatically, especially for elderly parents or kids at school. A simple way to add a partner or family member to receive alerts for the same location would give real peace of mind without everyone needing to set up their own account.
@devranzalpkib4 great idea! SMS alerts is part of our paid tier--we are trying to be an generous as possible on the free plan--but SMS alerts have a cost, so we need to charge--but adding in alerts to other family members would be a great way of showing the benefit of our higher tiers. Thanks!
finally something that doesn't yell at me every hour. set thresholds for my kid's school and my folks' house, got one calm text during the wildfire smoke and nothing since. honestly that quiet hours thing alone makes it worth it
@suruc86423 thanks for the comment, the goal of our app is too alert you when necessary so you can relax
Finally set up thresholds for my kid's school and my parents' place, and I really like that quiet hours toggle keeps my phone silent overnight. Wished more apps handled notifications this thoughtfully.
@abdulsametzsiq it takes a lot to get notifications right, hopefully we found the right balance
This is a really thoughtful take on air quality alerts. One thing I'd love to see is a weekly summary trend view, something like a simple chart showing how each of your saved locations compared to your threshold over the past 7 days. It would help spot patterns, like which neighborhood regularly tips into unhealthy territory, and make it easier to plan ahead or talk to a doctor about recurring exposure.
@kamil28113 great suggestion, thanks! we create a basic set of analytics but we're looking forward to expanding them based on user feedback--some users really want to dig into the numbers (like you!).
The custom thresholds and quiet hours show real thoughtfulness here, it's rare to see a free tool actually respect people's schedules instead of just blasting notifications. Whoever designed this clearly talked to actual asthma families, not just built another dashboard.
@mermercise71555 we want the alerts to be meaningful--a model for us is @Watch Duty --a wildfire monitoring app--when you get an alert from them you know it is worth looking at.
the quiet hours feature is honestly such a thoughtful detail, like you can tell the team actually thought about what it's like living with asthma and not wanting your phone blowing up at 2am when the air goes bad
