it looks cool; but the pricing plans seem exceptionally expensive, especially given the limited number of minutes provided.

@_jacksmith I guess it is more or less expensive depending on the value you can get out of it. It also depends on which country is your phone based at, and whether it's a landline phone or a mobile phone. When deciding the pricing for Calloud, I considered offering many different rates depending on these conditions, but at the end decided to unify it for sake of simplicity. It also makes costs more predictable for these companies.
@brnt looks cool! how / why did this start? What's the ultimate vision for it?

@eriktorenberg Thanks Erik!
I started thinking about creating some sort of web based calling system for businesses a few years ago when I had to call Amazon UK to ask them about an unexpected charge on my credit card. I was calling from Spain (we didn't have Amazon Spain at the time) and my issue took like 15 minutes to be addressed, so the call turned out to be pretty expensive. Moreover, while I was talking over the phone and holding it I had to use my computer to find some data I was asked to provide. I didn't find this convenient at all. I thought it would be much better if I could call them directly from my computer. If phones are already like (small sized) computers, why can't computers be used like phones? I feel like we shouldn't need our phone to have voice conversations if we are already using a computer.
Then, I started looking for solutions but just found lots of click to call solutions that still shift the conversation to your phone. Given I didn't find what I wanted, I built it. Now I have a working core product, but there are many features that can be built on top of it. As you can imagine, you can get much more out of a web based communications system rather than a regular phone call. And the nicest part is that the business still receives any call on their regular phone line. In my (completely biased, for obvious reasons) opinion, the potential is huge.

Hi, Calloud creator here.
This is a project I've been working on lately, will happily answer any question here :)

Indeed a great idea. Also agreed it's too expensive for an early startup to try. I'd consider it a no brainer for $9.99, with a 30 day free trial.
