BRUH is a new take on social apps: instead of text-first comments, conversations start with meme/GIF replies. It’s native-first on iOS/Android (with a PWA), includes a fast meme reply workflow, and unlocks 1:1 chat only after a real reply interaction to keep DMs more intentional and less spammy. We also added regional AI-powered challenges, so trends feel local instead of generic.

We built BRUH because social apps started feeling repetitive: endless scrolling, low-effort comments, and DMs that often turn into noise. I wanted to make interactions more creative and intentional, so the core idea became simple: reply with memes/GIFs first, then unlock chat through real interaction.
The problem we focused on was the quality of engagement. Text-only replies are easy but often low-signal; totally open messaging can invite spam. So we designed BRUH around a “show your vibe first” flow, then a more meaningful 1:1 chat path. We also added regional AI-powered challenges to make discovery feel local and fresh instead of one-size-fits-all trends.
Our approach evolved a lot during this launch. We started as “just a fun meme reply app,” then realized reliability and UX mattered as much as novelty: faster chat performance, stronger moderation and security, smoother iOS/Android behavior, and better onboarding. The biggest lesson was balancing playfulness with trust — making something fun enough to open daily, but structured enough to feel safe and intentional.
