What do you think? …

ughh... requires flash plugin. (closes tab.)
James Futhey
@iamrahulkapoor Does not require flash, but the test does take over 10s to run.
Rahul Kapoor
@futhey I'll check again then.
Ingo Radatz
Requires Adobe Flash plugin
Ben Easton
Flash huh, is it trying to identify who's living in 2004 still...?
James Futhey
This doesn't require the flash plugin to work. It uses this as one of it's tests to see if you're flash capable, but it works without installing flash. Note: This is a pretty sophisticated set of tests and takes over 10s to run (includes audio oscillator fingerprinting and installed fonts fingerprinting). It's really interesting if you follow some of the techniques used by advertisers to fingerprint users who use adblock, etc.
Dean Kappen
@futhey Thank you for pointing this out.

This does not require flash to run, it's one of the facets of the fingerprinting run on your browser. What people seem to be missing is that this "common metadata" that is being shown to you is point. If someone really wanted to track your internet activities, all they would have to do is take a "fingerprint" or a capture of all this data, and note when you come to their website, or what websites you are visiting. The idea being that this simple technical information an be used to identify a device uniquely because rarely if every does the devices share characteristics in ALL of these technical facets. It's not as simple as using ad-block and saying do not track and trying to be someone anonymous by using browser extensions, because there are creative ways to track you anyway.
Trent Pierce
It doesn't really give any hidden information. This tool just grabs common metadata from your device and shows it.

Hey guys I'm getting 125 errors in dev console. Moreover, it takes 17 second to fully load the page. That's not cool.
