Can't stress enough how much I love this. I've been using F.lux on Mac OS for some time and night shift on iOS has been a godsend.

This is great, been waiting for something like this for a while. Used sunn app on iOS for a short while but it would have real trouble working in the background so always thought a mac app or dedicated box would be better. However I believe philips are are adding this functionality to their new app soon so supporting other bulbs will be a smart move!

<3 the idea and <3 Hue bulls, but I'm struggling to make use of this. Responsiveness to the basics (like... allow location, or search for location, or use... any of the buttons) is extremely slow (on a brand new 15" MBP).

@viganb it needs a continuous connection to the Hue bridge which makes it impractical for most people to use on a mobile phone, but I'm gauging interest for a tablet app. When tvOS supports background fetching that will be very interesting as well.

@jhurliman @nikitakorotaev I took a whack at this - here's my version as a daemon - feel free to pull from it https://github.com/ancillarymagn... -- this implementation addresses some oddities of the LIFX color space, which has a floating white point, allowing pure whites when the saturation value is zero, but complicating transitions from 'white' to color and vice versa. I think it's worth doing correctly for the high quality of white light from LIFX lamps, so my version only uses saturated colors around and after sunset.
