Hey Product Hunt! I'm Ryan. I built HelloLedger solo. Every bookkeeping tool I've used was overly complicated, packed with features built for businesses much larger than mine. They added AI, but always as a chatbot stapled to the side. I wanted the opposite: fewer features, done properly, on a platform that speaks AI natively rather than having it retrofitted. The boring part it does well. Connect your bank through Plaid, set categorization rules once, and transactions sort themselves - including retroactively, so you're not hand-fixing the last six months. Invoices, expenses, sales tax, and the reports your accountant asks for. That's the whole surface area, on purpose. Bring your own AI. HelloLedger ships an MCP server, so you connect Claude or ChatGPT and ask your books questions directly. "What did I spend on software last quarter?" "What's my sales tax owing?" No proprietary assistant, no AI surcharge, and no lock-in to whichever model I happened to pick. For the infrastructure people: every account runs in its own container with its own database. @th1ng HelloLedger’s deliberately narrow scope really stood out to me. I upvoted the product, especially the retroactive transaction categorization and MCP approach. Giving users control over which AI model they connect is a thoughtful decision. The isolated database architecture is also an interesting technical choice.
