Hi Product Hunt 👋
Belegio started as a Telegram bot for my wife and me. Photograph a receipt, an OCR pipeline reads it, the data lands in a spreadsheet. We used it that way for months before it became an app — 155 of the first 198 receipts in the system are our own groceries.
It exists because every expense app I tried answered the wrong question. They all tell you how much you spent at the supermarket. None of them tell you what you actually bought — what that specific coffee has cost you over the past year, whether your usual basket got more expensive, which shop is cheaper for the things you buy rather than for a generic basket.
That information already exists. It's printed on the paper everyone throws away.
So Belegio reads the receipt down to the individual line — item, quantity, unit price, discounts, VAT — and then you can actually ask things:
- Price history per product, across shops and spellings
- Your own personal inflation, not a national index
- An AI coach you can ask in plain language: "what did I spend most on last month?"
- Household mode for two people, where individual receipts can stay private — the difference between a shared budget and being audited by someone you live with
